Real Madrid First Place to Get Haaland. GOD55

Real Madrid are in 'pole position' to sign Erling Haaland this summer with fellow Norwegian Martin Odegaard helping to convince him to move the Bernabeu, according to reports in Spain.

Haaland is the world's most in-demand striker thanks to his sublime form at Borussia Dortmund before the season was halted by the coronavirus outbreak.

Real are desperately on the hunt for a new centre forward with Karim Benzema entering the final few years of his career and Luka Jovic struggling for form since arriving from Frankfurt last summer.

And Spanish outlet AS claim on Friday that Real are leading the chase to sign Haaland if they wish to make their move this summer.

They claim Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joaquim Watzke is 'close' with Florentino Perez and that Haaland's agent, Mino Raiola, is desperate to move his client into the Real squad.

It is also believed that Martin Odegaard, Haaland's international team-mate, has led a charm offensive off the pitch to convince his compatriot to move to the Bernabeu.

But there are some concerns from Real about making such an expensive move happen, given the financial uncertainty prompted by a loss of revenue due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Dortmund are also unwilling to let their prized asset go so soon after buying him but the 19-year-old is understood to be allowed to leave for £63m from next summer, which could force the German side's hand in the coming months.

It is thought Dortmund could demand full-back Achraf Hakimi as part of any deal with Dortmund very keen on making his loan move permanent this summer.

The 19-year-old boasts 61 career goals already, and has made a lightning fast start to his career at Dortmund - finding the back of the net 12 times in his first 11 games.
