Slim Chance Werner to Liverpool. GOD55

Liverpool manger Jurgen Klopp's transfer pursuit of Timo Werner has suffered a setback due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

RB Leipzig superstar Werner has long been earmarked as a potential summer signing for Klopp, as the Germany international has seen his profile rise during a prolific season in front of goal.

The former Stuttgart forward has scored 27 times in 36 matches this season, including four in the Champions League, to make this his most impressive campaign in front of goal to date.

Indeed, Klopp is believed to view Werner as a much-needed alternative to Liverpool's famed front three of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

And according to Bild, Klopp is desperate to meet the forward in person in order to persuade the player to make the move to Anfield.

However the coronavirus pandemic, which has wreaked havoc all over the globe, has prevented this meeting from taking place thus far.

And, with no end date in sight, it remains to be seen if the Premier League giants will be able to thrash out a deal this summer.

And Liverpool favourite Jamie Carragher also thinks Werner's proposed transfer to Liverpool this summer could be called off as clubs get to grips with the chaos caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

"Timo Werner to Liverpool?" questioned Carragher during an Instagram Live Q&A. "It looked nailed on before the situation we’re in now so it may affect transfers this summer.

"It may have to be put on the back burner, maybe for the following summer."

Ouch!
