Saudi Prince to Take Newcastle? GOD55

Manchester United’s hopes of being bought out by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman look to be dead in the water.

That is because a deal for him to purchase Newcastle United looks to be edging closer and closer and big developments came to light on Tuesday.

Daily Star Sport understand his key investment tool, Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund, along with financier Amanda Staveley and the Reuben Brother, have agreed a £300million deal to buy the club from current owner Mike Ashley.

Documents lodged at Companies House show that Ashley has entered into a charge agreement with Staveley, with papers including the legal groundwork for a potential deal.

Bin Salman was linked with a takeover of the Red Devils last year and was prepared to pay around £4billion for the club.

However, the Glazers insisted at the time that they were not open to any offers to sell.

More recent reports suggested that the Saudi Crown Prince still had not given up interest on United and could come back in.

And he may have had more success this time around after United’s latest financial figures did not show good reading.

Failure to qualify for the Champions League took its toll on the books, while broadcast revenue dropped by £39million and matchday revenue down by 15 per cent.

Net debt also rose by £73.6million over the financial year and as a result the Glazer’s could have been more open to selling.

As things stand though it seems Newcastle could now be the benefactors of the Saudi Prince’s huge wealth.

He is reported to be worth close to £7billion but also has the backing of the Saudi principality to help him.

Should the deal go through it would mark the end of Ashley’s 13 year tenure at St James Park.

Fans have been crying out for him to sell their club for years and this could mark the beginning of a new dawn on Tyneside.
